PlatePinch is a budget meal planner. You tell it your household size, weekly budget, diet and what you already have at home, and it suggests seven dinners with a priced grocery list. This page explains what happens to that information.

We do not keep personal data on our servers

You do not need an account to use PlatePinch. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or location, and our servers do not store your meal plans. Your plans and preferences are saved on your own device.

Random device ID for usage limits

The app creates a random ID on your device. It is not linked to your name, your Apple or Google account, or your advertising ID. We use it only to apply daily usage limits and to count how many devices open the app each day. Your IP address is never stored. To enforce limits fairly we keep a one-way, daily-changing hash of it for up to two days.

Plan details are sent to an AI provider

To create recipes, the details you enter for a plan (household size, budget, diet, dislikes, pantry items, cooking time and store type) are sent to our AI provider, which writes the recipes. Do not enter anything personal in those fields. The provider processes the request to return recipes and does not receive your device ID.

Prices are estimates

Grocery prices are estimates calculated from public US government data, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Average Price Data and the USDA Economic Research Service Fruit and Vegetable Prices. Prices at your store will be different. Some items have no official price data and are shown without a price.

Purchases

If you subscribe, payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details. We receive only the subscription status needed to unlock features.

Children

PlatePinch is meant for adults planning household meals and is not directed at children under 13.
